FAQ's - How are solutions ranked ?

Solution Ranking

To search for a solution on FindSolve, go to the Find page and enter your desired search criteria and then press the Search button. You will then be presented with a Search Results page that lists all solutions that matches your search criteria. A matching percentage will be displayed for each matched solution.

The matching percentage is calculated based on how many points a solution is given out of a maximum of 28 points. Points are allocated in the following way:

  • If a match is found in the title, 10 points are awarded.
  • If a match is found in the Quick Summary description, 8 points are awarded.
  • If a match is found in the Key Points, 6 points are awarded.
  • If a match is found in the company name, 4 points are awarded.

The total number of published customer references is divided by 1000 and added to the total score. This means that two listings with the same score will be ranked (i.e. listed) according to which solution has the highest number of customer references, however, their matching percentage is likely to be the same.

Finally, the produced score is converted to a percentage and rounded to the nearest whole number.

For example, if a matching score is calculated to be 24.003 (the solution has 3 published customer references), the percentage will be ( 24.003 / 30 )  *  100  =  80.01 which is rounded down to 80%.
