My job rocks, everyday I get to see , hear and showcase people and businesses doing remarkable things — what a ride !!
Take today for example. This morning I was told about the ‘Australian Library and Information Association‘ and through them I was introduced to the ‘National Simultaneous Storytime‘ and the ‘CEO Sleepout‘.
Being a father of two young boys, play gyms, zoos, parks and bedtime storytime are all activities that are now part of a normal day. When I learnt that every year ALIA facilitates a campaign whereby libraries around Australia all read the same book to children at a nominated date & time, I was immediately onboard. What a great idea and a great way to promote childrens literacy. This years book is ‘Little White Dogs Can’t Jump’ and I can’t wait to take my boys to hear it being read.
However my mornings journey didn’t stop there — as result of my conversations with ALIA, I was introduced to the ‘CEO Sleepout‘. On Thursday 17th June 2010, CEO’s from all over Australia will sleep rough for a night to raise money for St Vincent de Paul Society whose goal is to offer long-term solutions that truly break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by offering people a hand up, not just a hand out. I would encourage everybody to get behind this great cause.

People who know me, know I love Rugby — and it was through my local team that this excellent business came to my attention. Everyday Hero allows anyone to setup their own personal fundraising page and use this page to raise money for their favourite charity, school or event. The fundraising page that grabbed my attention was one that the Queensland Reds Rugby Team setup — whereby for every try they scored whilst on tour in South Africa they (via Oxfam Australia) brought a goat for a local community. (see their fundraising page here)
What a great business offering a fantastic and innovative fund-raising solution. This is definately a business to keep your eye on !!

Was having coffee with a friend today and she asked me the question — What is the definition of a Solution ? So I gave her the definition from our site. A Solution is a product or service, or a mix of products and services that addresses a specific problem, challenge or need. A Solution – is what you do, what your proud of, what you offer.
Interestingly the organizations that specialize are having no problems understanding the solution vs business concept and are finding it easy to showcase what they offer on findsolve. It seems to be the more opportunity driven organizations who are finding difficulty showcasing what they offer vs who they are.
The solution currently showcased on findsolve “Project Management Office in 60Days‘ is a great example of the solution vs business concept in action. There is no doubt that the business “PM Solutions Australia” has a large number of services they offer. But the Project Management Office in 60Days is obviously a service-offering (solution) that the business “PM Solutions Australia” offer and are very proud of – plus are confident that they will be able to gather the Customer References to show that that this service-offering (solution) has actually been implemented, is proven and the Customers are satisfied and would recommend the service-offering (solution).
findsolve is a Solution Marketplace — not another business listing/directory. We care what you deliver, what you offer, what your speciality is — not who you are. This is a very subtle, but a very important disticintion. We want to hear about the proven solutions – the stuff you would recommend to your friends — we don’t care if their is a massive corporate organization behind the Solution or if it has been created by two 15yr old kids who collaborated via facebook.
My point is this — If you think you offer a Solution — will by heck who am I to argue with you — and if the people who are using it think it is pretty good — then PUT IT ON findsolve TODAY – and let us give it a voice !!
