Nina Dudnik

American geneticist and CEO of Seeding Labs, an organization providing up-and-coming researchers with lab equipment and other resources

Nina Dudnik has worked side-by-side with researchers in developing countries from Syria to the Ivory Coast and has seen the benefits of scientific research in agricultural production and health care. She holds a BS in biochemistry from Brown University, was a Fulbright Fellow at a rice research station in West Africa, and is completing her doctorate in molecular biology at Harvard Medical School.

Seeding Labs’ mission is to support and expand scientific research in developing countries by providing affordable reclaimed laboratory equipment and facilitating connections within the global scientific research community.

Registered as a 501c3 non-profit organization, Seeding Labs ensures researchers all over the world have the resources to solve pressing global problems.

Fostering Talent, Generating Results

We believe that developing a thriving scientific and technology economy must begin with a focus on higher education and build human and material capacity simultaneously. We work with public and private research institutions in the U.S. to achieve a more sustainable alternative to disposal for their surplus resources – making laboratory equipment affordable and accessible to scientists in the developing world. We connect these newly-equipped scientists with their colleagues in the U.S. to learn from each other and collaborate on the scientific and technical advances that will help us all.

The Impact of Equipment

Our hypothesis

Providing scientists with lab equipment will change the scale and sophistication of projects they can pursue.
By reducing the cost of obtaining equipment, they will use their limited budgets to cover other research costs including chemicals and trainee support.
They will increase their experimental work and train more students. More well-trained students and increased research output means more data disseminated publicly in scholarly publications.
This in turn will lead them to obtain new grants to obtain new equipment and train even more students.
Ultimately, they will produce real solutions to problems facing their communities.
