Charles Philip Arthur George is the eldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Since 1952, he has been heir apparent to the thrones of the Commonwealth realms
After earning a bachelor of arts from Trinity College, Cambridge, Charles served a tour of duty with Royal Navy in 1971–76. He married Lady Diana Spencer before an enormous worldwide television audience in 1981. They had two children, Prince William of Wales in 1982 and Prince Harry of Wales in 1984.
The prince is well-known for his charity work and sponsors The Prince's Trust, The Prince's Regeneration Trust, and the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment. He has been outspoken concerning architecture and the conservation of old buildings and has produced a book on the subject called A Vision of Britain (1989). Since 1958, his major title has been HRH The Prince of Wales. In Scotland he is known as The Duke of Rothesay.

The Prince's Trust is a youth charity that helps change young lives.
We give practical and financial support, developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation. We work with 14 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
We have helped more than 600,000 young people since 1976 and support 100 more each working day. More than three in four young people we helped last year moved into work, education or training.
Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year.
The Prince's Trust helps change young lives.
We have four key target groups:
A wealth of research indicates that lower educational attainment and lack of formal qualifications make it much more difficult to secure full-time employment.
To help those with few or no qualifications to build skills, confidence and find employment, we provide personal development opportunities.
To assist young people trying to move into a job, training or education - but lacking the money to do so - we give Development Awards
5.4% of 15 year olds in England leave school with no qualifications and nearly 25% have fewer than five GCSEs.
To combat school-related challenges such as truancy, exclusions and poor performance, we run xl clubs within 300 schools across the UK.
Approximately 8,000 young people leave care more vulnerable than most. They are more likely to have no qualifications or low basic skills, or be unemployed or homeless.
According to a Home Office survey, 3.95% of the 16-25 population have offended.
The Prince's Trust does not run programmes exclusively for young offenders and ex-offenders, but we recognise the strength of our programmes to help them break the offending cycle and fulfil their aspirations.
The Prince’s Regeneration Trust is one of The Prince's Charities of which HRH The Prince of Wales is President; 17 of the 19 charities in the group were founded personally by The Prince.
The Trust works with communities throughout the United Kingdom. We aim to ensure that important buildings at risk of demolition or decay are preserved, regenerated and re-used.
Our ethos leads us to socially and economically deprived areas; places that will benefit most from the regeneration of the wider community.
We champion the value of partnerships and work closely with building owners, developers, community groups, local authorities and other public bodies to find sensitive and sustainable new uses for buildings at risk.
Buildings, like people and places, need to adapt to survive. Our projects give redundant buildings a viable and long-term future keeping them at the heart of the communities in which they stand.
The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment is a charity which exists to improve the quality of people’s lives by teaching and practising timeless and ecological ways of planning, designing and building.
We believe that if we can understand and apply time-tested principles, building once more in a sustainable way, we will reap improvements in public health, in livelier and safer streets and in a more affordable lifestyle for families and individuals. We also believe that neighbourhoods exhibiting these sustainable characteristics will accrue higher value over time.
The Foundation has four core areas of activity. Our Education Programme teaches skills in successful place-making through seminars and workshops. The Projects & Practice department is engaged on a series of live developments in partnership with the private sector and public agencies. Our Chief Executive Team runs strategic initiatives with several major policy partners. Our Design Theory & Networks department develops and disseminates new examples of practice by our global network that evidences innovation and tested tools for building successful communities.
