Professor Adrienne Clarke

She was educated at Ruyton Girls' School and the University of Melbourne.

About Us

Established in 1982, the PCBRC conducts research into many aspects of plant cell biology, abiotic stresses, plant pathogens and evolution. We offer scholarships, postgraduate research and staff employment opportunities in a leading organisation.

 

Our Goals

Provide knowledge by maintaining internationally competitive research programs.

Train people through teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students

Contribute expertise to industry, government and professional bodies.

Serve the community through discussions of issues of interest

 

History
The Plant Cell Biology Research Centre (PCBRC) was founded by Professor Adrienne Clarke and others in 1982 as a dedicated research centre within the School of Botany at the University of Melbourne.

 

Facilities & Services
Metabolomics Australia

Metabolomics Australia (MA) is a government funded national metabolomics service centre founded in 2007 and is the first high throughput Metabolomics facility in Australia.

MA services are focused on all areas of technology for small molecule analysis with the aim of providing access to world leading advances and technology for academic and private Industry.

 

Victorian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics
The VCPFG is a joint venture with the Victorian Department of Primary Industries (DPI) through the Plant Biotechnology Centre located at La Trobe University.   Professor German Spangenberg heads the DPI node.   The Centre provides key platform technologies and associated expertise to the Australia Centre for Plant Functional Genomics , and the CRC for Molecular Plant Breeding.

Established in 2002 by a $4 million grant from the Victorian Government's Science, Technology and Innovation program, the VCPFG provides state-of-the-art functional genomic platforms including:

  • genomics
  • transcriptomics
  • proteomics
  • metabolomics
  • glycomics
  • bioinformatics
