"Proud Princeton dropout" Seth Priebatsch runs SCVNGR, a mobile start-up trying to build the game layer on top of the world.

Two things you'll notice about Seth Priebatsch: One, his infectious, get-you-out-of-your-chair enthusiasm. Two, the inventory of entrepreneurial feats he's managed to accumulate at a remarkably young age. The 21-year-old founded his first startup at age 12, and by age 18, he'd founded another -- PostcardTech, which makes interactive marketing tours for CD-ROM.

Now he's working on SCVNGR, "a massive experiment in building a mobile game together." Backed by Google Ventures, SCVNGR is part game, part game platform. Players play SCVNGR by going places, doing challenges and having fun -- outside of the office, beyond the screen, in the real world. Organizations use SCVNGR by building on the game layer by adding their own challenges to the places they care about.

A Short History, A Long List of Innovations

Postcard tech was conceived in spring 2007 by Seth Priebatsch with the goal of "revolutionizing the world of postcards". Nikhil Basu Trivedi joined the team in early 2008. PostcardTech is now bringing creative marketing for complex messages to every field and every sector. PostcardTech was originally founded to create a new type of postcard for visitors to Boston, a postcard that would offer users a virtual tour of the city. A CD postcard that offers users the experience of a city from the comfort of their living room.

The Theory

The Product

CD postcards are the next evolation in postcard marketing. They're cheap, effective and cool. Seth Priebatsch developed his conception for CD postcards in high school and has been working to make it a reality ever since.
