The Melbourne Football Club has a proud and rich heritage dating back to 1858. The Club was one of the founding members of what has become the Australian Football League. Over 150 years, the Melbourne Football Club has won 12 premierships, and it been home to many of the game’s greatest champions, from heroes of yesteryear such as Barassi, Ridley and Flower to modern legends Stynes, Lyon and Neitz.

General administration will remain at the MCG. The Football Department administration area covers around 800 square metres, and includes a variety of facilities, from reception to physiotherapy, multi-purpose meeting rooms, staff offices, as well as IT amenities and change rooms. Kicking Goals Program
In 2009, just over 1,700 students from 13 schools participated in the “Kicking Goals” pilot program - a meaningful and successful program aimed at grades 3 – 6. The six week program focuses on Healthy Eating, Respect, Fair Play, Harmony, Leadership and Teamwork. The program is facilitated by Monash Advanced Practicum students and or PE teachers within the school.
The AFL Learning Management system and the AFL Schools website supported the program. The “You Can Kicking Goals” - “Mascots” (3 & 4) and “Rookie” (5 & 6) resources provided the students with a work book which reinforced the important values that are integral to the building of stronger and more harmonious communities.
The “Kicking Goals “program is linked to relevant learning outcomes as prescribed in the curriculum frameworks. Along with the student resources, teachers were also provided with a 10 lesson classroom teacher and learning curriculum to assist with the delivery.
In 2010, The participating schools have increased to 20 and to help with facilitation of the program, we will be working with Deakin University and Monash to place Advanced Practicum Students within your school to drive or assist with the facilitation. It is our intention to offer a Level 1 coaching course and PD to these students/teachers to ensure they are equipped with the appropriate skills.

soundslikebrisbane is a project aimed at promoting and supporting the independent record labels that are the backbone of the music scene in Brisbane, Australia.
The aim of this project is to not only promote the incredible work done by Brisbane's indie labels, but promote their artists to the world. And over the coming months we will be rolling out a number of announcement, events, and initiatives aimed at just that.
Brisbane has always had a strong DIY approach to music and without the efforts of indie labels and their bands, the music scene here (like just about everywhere else) just wouldn't be the same. These labels make sure great music gets heard.
soundslikebrisbane will also become a hub for a range of projects aimed at not just supporting the current crop of local labels, but ensuring the next generation of label owners and managers comes steaming through.
The Australian Library and Information Association [ALIA] is the professional organisation for the Australian library and information services sector. It seeks to empower the profession in the development, promotion and delivery of quality library and information services to the nation, through leadership, advocacy and mutual support.
ALIA celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2007. Established in 1937 as the Australian Institute of Librarians, the Association assumed the title of the Library Association of Australia in 1949, and in 1989 adopted the new name of the Australian Library and Information Association in recognition of the broadening scope of the profession.
The Association is governed by a Constitution and is guided by a vision, mission, objects and values. Ourpolicy statements are developed by an elected Board of Directors and implemented by the ALIA National Office.
Membership of ALIA is open to individuals and organisations alike: the only membership requirement is an interest in the sector.
Members of ALIA can belong to as many groups as they wish. These groups actively participate in Association activities.
ALIA Awards, national and regional, are presented each year to reward members of the library and information community and to celebrate their achievements.
ALIA National Office staff are based in ALIA House in the nation's capital, Canberra.
ALIA publications are an important means of professional development, engagement and communication, as are our e-lists, conferences, and events. Any person interested in ALIA and the library and information sector can subscribe to our free monthly e-newsletter, aliaNEWS.
