Our Community Wellbeing Services offer a range of diverse, but integrated, responses to poverty, isolation and other barriers to social wellbeing.
Targeted programs and new initiatives create opportunities for individuals and groups to share, learn, develop skills and confidence … and have fun. They include:
Some of the Community and Wellbeing Services Include:
Personal Enrichment Program:
Redcliffe Community Association's Personal Enrichment Program (PEP) assists people who experience mental illness to realise their inherent strengths and abilities, and to confidently make choices that enrich their lives. Anyone over the age of 18 who resides in the Redcliffe and surrounding and is currently accessing public mental health services or a private mental health practitioner is eligible to participate. PEP offers skills development workshops, recreational activities, social outings, recovery based sessions and more. Access is via an appointment with the senior worker to discuss individual support needs and to develop a personal development plan.
Mental Health Outreach Recovery Support Program:
The recovery philosophy is integral to the Mental Health Outreach Recovery Support Program. This program adds a new dimension to the community support offered to people aged 13-64 years living with a mental illness in the Redcliffe and surrounding areas. It is a flexible, individually-oriented program that will closely collaborate with existing Queensland Health, Mental Health Services in the area. It facilitates independent living skills and social support where the individual resides according to his or her needs or desires.
Services for Seniors
Older People's Action Program
The Older People's Action Program (OPAP) provides a range of activities, information and referral to enhance the quality of life of Redcliffe's senior residents. We also offer a Flexi-ride Transport service for disadvantaged and frail persons aged 50+ years and not in paid employment. Fun at OPAP is a monthly program, purely social in nature and focuses on engaging isolated senior residents. In addition, many senior community groups access the centre for a range of social activities and to many, this is the only point for socialisation. OPAP provides a quarterly newsletter, bus trips, Flexi-Ride services, shopping transport, morning teas, referral service and information.
Community Development and Support Service:
Redcliffe Community Association’s Community Support Service operates from the Redcliffe Community Association site in Lamington Drive at Redcliffe. It provides information, referral and advocacy; conducts community forums; facilitates community services including emergency assistance and legal assistance; and engages people from diverse backgrounds in effective community development initiatives, including literacy program and breakfast club.
